Ming Wai was born in Hong Kong – a city with a unique mix of western and oriental culture – during the 1980s. Ming Wai likes to alter the shape of objects. Most of her inspiration comes from plastic toys which are changed into ceramic ornaments. Contrasting colours, text and images and often incorporated into her work. Ming Wai also collaborates with Yasmin Dilekkaya. Together they trade as Yas-Ming Ceramics. The pair studied together at the University for the Creative Arts in Rochester and has been working together since graduating in 2010.
